Selection of Single phase EI core in transformers

Due to the low loss of silicon steel in the alternating magnetic field, silicon steel sheets are commonly used as magnetic materials in our lives. Single phase EI core can be divided into hot rolling and cold rolling. Cold rolled products have good magnetic permeability. The coefficient, and low loss characteristics, are often used as transformers. They have the advantages of small size, light weight and high efficiency; while hot rolling is relatively inferior to cold rolling.

 

A typical Single phase EI core is formed by punching a silicon steel sheet into an E-type and an I-type sheet having a thickness of 0.35 - 0.5 mm, and then inserting it into a winding wire package by heat treatment. Such iron cores are mostly made of hot-rolled silicon steel sheets, and the cores of the ring-type and C-type transformers are formed by winding a cold-rolled silicon steel strip, and the C-type transformer is formed by heat-treated immersion paint and then cut.

 

The leakage inductance of the transformer is generated by the magnetic flux that does not pass through the primary and secondary coils. These magnetic fluxes pass through the air and close the magnetic circuit. Enhancing the coupling density between the primary and secondary of the transformer can reduce the leakage inductance. The outstanding transformer's leakage inductance does not exceed 1/100 of the primary coil inductance, and the high-fidelity Hi-Fi amplifier output transformer should not exceed 1/500.
