The silicon steel sheet is a ferrosilicon soft magnetic alloy having a very small carbon content, and its silicon content is in the range of 0.5% to 4.5%. The element of silicon is added to its constituent elements in order to increase the electrical resistivity and magnetic permeability of iron, and at the same time, it can reduce iron loss and reduce magnetic aging.


In addition, since the production process of silicon steel sheets is complicated and has certain production difficulty, it has become a special type of handicrafts in steel products, especially oriented silicon steel sheets in silicon steel sheets.


Performance requirements for silicon steel sheets

1: The iron loss is small, and this is an important indicator for product selection, because the grade is generally divided according to the iron loss value, and the smaller the iron loss, the larger the grade.


2: There should be a high magnetic induction intensity under a strong magnetic field, which can reduce the volume and weight of the core of the motor and the transformer, and save the material.


3: To have a good surface smoothness and flatness, and to maintain a uniform thickness, to improve the core filling factor.


4: To have good stamping performance, if the surface has an insulating film, the adhesion and welding performance of the film are good.


5: There is basically no magnetic aging.


Silicon steel sheet manufacturing process


The production of silicon steel sheets is mainly smelted by oxygen converter, but it can also be smelted by electric arc furnace, combined with molten steel vacuum treatment and AOD technology. Moreover, depending on the product's different uses, the silicon and aluminum content can be varied during smelting to meet different magnetic requirements. For silicon steel sheets with larger grades, the silicon and aluminum contents may be appropriately increased, but carbon, sulfur and inclusions should be minimized.


The rolling process of silicon steel sheets is either hot rolling or cold rolling, and the obtained products are called hot rolled silicon steel products and cold rolled silicon steel products. According to different products, the cold rolling equipment used in the cold rolling process is a single-stand rolling mill and a multi-stand rolling mill. The single-stand rolling mill is mainly used to produce oriented cold-rolled silicon steel products.
